Thugs attack Ajimobi’s commissioner, INEC official

Thugs attack Ajimobi’s commissioner, INEC official, POCKETS of violence punctuated the last Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections as some hoodlums at Iwere-Ile in Iwajowa Local government attacked the collation officer, Dr. Dickson Ajayi and destroyed election materials.
This was disclosed during the presentation of results of the election to the state Chief Collation Officer at the INEC office in Ibadan.
Dr. Ajayi said, “before I continue the presentation of results, let me say this in the open. We faced a hectic time around 8pm last night(Saturday).

We had hardly ‎finished voting when some hoodlums swooped on me. They demanded that I should open the booth of my car alleging that I was carrying thumb-printed ballot papers.
I eventually opened it to convince them I was not carrying anything. They destroyed my laptop and started beating me.
They also tore all collation papers. I had to order for more papers. It was the security agents that helped me escape from them”.
“I was there a fortnight ago during the presidential election. I will never go there again. It was God that saved me from them”.
Earlier, one of Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s aide was beaten to coma by people believed to be from the opposition ‎parties.
Vanguard gathered that the Commissioner for Works, Bimbo Kolade was moving about when the hoodlums pounced on him.

There was a mild drama while the results were being announced and APC still winning at INEC as members of Accord probably acting on misinformation went into wild jubilation.
Vanguard learnt that supporters of the party even bought some bottles of beer to celebrate the fake victory.
As at the time of filing this report, the celebration was still on.
